Hello there!

My name is Troy Pheil,
I am an independent web designer.
I am also the registered owner of this
web domain: Altroent.com.

What I do here is build web pages.

My primary goal these last 10 years has been to provide access to useful resources educating one's self. My hope has been promoting self-education will lead to sane, fair and sustainable stewardship of the planet.

I support a growing and global grassroots movement
known as Occupy.

The occupy movement asserts,

"We Are The 99% that will no longer tolerate
the greed and corruption of the 1%."

The vast majority of the Earth's current economic and political systems function primarily to create artificial scarcity. By manipulating scarcity the 1% create immoral profit. They increased their privilege and excused their criminality by corrupting government.

The 1% falsely believe they are hidden from view, shielded through an artifice of large national and multi-national corporations, from their personal responsibility for the sad worsening state of the human and planetary condition.

Occupy seeks is to wrestle control of the Earth and of its bountiful resource from the criminal control of the 1%. This must be done to assure wealth is utilized for the mutual benefit and sustenance of all the earth's indigenous people.

Why self-education?

Here and now, for the first time in human experience, due to the almost miraculous two decade long unfolding of The Internet and other digital communication capabilities, it is possible all the people of the earth to interconnect and participate in a very sane, very practical and very important discussion: What should we best be doing with our time and with our resources?

Further; for the time being at least, this discussion can not be controlled by the temporary rulers and other oligarchs of power of this time.

I am a strong advocate for self-education. This advocacy is not a selfless act.

While none of us can know everything, each of us does know many things. Some of these things we know are unique to us and to us alone. No other shares our life, our experience, our awareness and our perception. By increasing our individual knowledge and sharing that knowledge within an activated community we become the mega-mind. With that mind we can come to know the truth of what has been done to us, of what is being done to us and of what needs to be done now in this world to assure good outcomes for all of us in the future.

I work to provide links to valuable resources for educating ones self.
At times I may well share the results of the self education process within me. This is after all a public discussion and this web site is a part of my public voice.

In the video on the right Randy Newman sings a song about coming of age in America. He sings about coming to grips with the prevailing ethos of western culture - materialism.

Randy observes:

' ... in any fair system they would flourish and thrive. Yet, they eek out a living. They barely survive.'

We 'the people' should have reaped more from the multiple harvests of promise which were and are the industrial, technological and digital revolutions.

In this day and in this time we can and must commit ourselves to the courses of action most likely to free mankind from painful compulsions, from limited choices and from inequalities of opportunity.

Together we can and must make suitable and plausible plans for action which seem most likely to assure future peoples will have adequate resource to carry out their civic responsibilities while still providing the leisure time and freedom necessary for the enjoyment of good quality lives at home with family and friends.

It is to this goal and this task that I, this website and the movement I support are dedicated.

My primary building materials are HTML for structure and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) for presentation and style. I also have small portfolio of simple uncomplicated javascripts I use for the occasional dynamic effect.

I build these web pages to support a growing and increasingly effective global movement to educate the people.

About Altro Enterprises

current
events
I registered altroent.com as my personal web domain in the spring of 2000 because I believed I had acquired the web design skills during my previous five years of serendipitous self-discovery here on the internet the necessary skills to make money building web pages and the first thing I felt I needed was a home for my anticipated virtual empire.

Altro Enterprises was the name of a previous small business partnership I had formed in the 1980s when I still lived in St. Petersburg, FL.

My partners in that early venture were my cousin and a long loyal friend. Our plans were to design, manufacture and market bio-friendly consumer products. Nothing much ever came of that though.

In 1988 I quite unexpectedly found myself exiled from the family homestead in St. Petersburg (see: Living in Exile ) to Cambridge Ohio. I took the liberty of considering the name still available for my personal use. .

The movement to educate the people has no formal name or hierarchy. There doesn't seem to be an official list of it's members/volunteers.

What I do here - opinions I express, biases I show, analysis or evaluation I make - all of these are entirely my own.

educate 'the people'

I am an advocate.

Further progress in beneficial evolution in our human social, economic and political means and commons requires it. We must, as is expressed in a common american conservative values colloquialism, 'lift ourselves up by our boot straps' and become what Benjamin Franklin, a leading founder of the then fledgling American Democracy called 'a well-educated citizenry'. We will be called upon soon in our market places, in meetings places and the public halls of the world to reveal our own plans and our own ideas about what must be done to save our world from imminent destruction.

When called our opinions and our ideas must be based on real knowledge and on at least some factual information least we must find ourselves simply reciting verbatum the latest media message we've heard or we have seen on the subject. Recitation is a meager substitute for an informed thoughtful reasoning process. This is especially true in a time of suspected media manipulation.
