Hello there!
My name is Troy Pheil.
I am an independent web designer.
What I do here is
build web pages.
I am currently enrolled as a freshman student at
Franklin University Online. My major is
web development.
This last January I made a resolution to focus my attention.
Soon I will turn sixty. Three-quarters of my life gone by.
I would hope to serve wisely as an elder. Thus, it seemed
necessary to decide what will be important to me in my maturity.
I have created a list of four primary areas for action.
- poverty
- education
- election reform
- the environment
My main focus these days is
education.
It is not my only focus though.
My hope is the work will hurry along the development of a sane, rational,
fair, and sustainable path forward for humanity; a path assuring
all of us
an opportunity to live
joyful, peaceful, and abundant lives.
joyful, peaceful, and abundant lives.
This web site is a strong advocate for education.
This advocacy is not a selfless act.
While none of us can know everything, each of us does know many things. Some of these things we know are unique to us
and to us alone. No other shares our life, our experience, our awareness and our perception. By increasing our
individual knowledge and by sharing that knowledge within an activated community we become the mega-mind.
With that mind we can and must come to know the truth of what has been done to us, of what is being done to us and of what needs
to be done now in this world to assure good outcomes for all of us in the future.
I work to provide links to valuable resources for educating ones self.
At times
I may well share the results of the self education process within me.
This is after all a public discussion and this web site is a part of my public voice.
In the video on the right
Randy
Newman
sings a song about coming of age in America. He sings about coming to grips with the prevailing
ethos of western culture - materialism.
Randy observes:
' ... in any fair system they
would flourish and thrive. Yet, they eek out a living. They barely
survive.'
We 'the people' should have reaped more
from the multiple harvests of promise which were and are the industrial,
technological and digital revolutions.
In this day and in this time we can and must commit ourselves to the courses of action most likely to free mankind
from painful compulsions,
from limited choices and from inequalities of opportunity.
Together we can and must make suitable and plausible plans for action which seem most likely to assure future
peoples will have adequate resource to carry out their civic responsibilities while still providing
the leisure time and freedom necessary for
the enjoyment of good quality lives at home with family and friends.
It is to this goal and this task that I, this website and the movement I support are dedicated.
My primary building materials are
HTML for structure and
CSS (Cascading Style Sheets)
for presentation and style. I also have small portfolio of simple uncomplicated
javascripts I use for the occasional dynamic effect.
I build these web pages to support a growing and increasingly effective
global movement to
educate the people.
I registered altroent.com as my personal web domain in the spring of 2000.
I believed I had acquired, during five years of previous and serendipitous self-discovery
here on the internet, the necessary web design and other skills required to make money
building web pages.
and the first thing I felt I needed was a home for my anticipated virtual empire.
Altro Enterprises
was the name of a previous small business partnership I had formed
in the 1980s when I still lived in St. Petersburg, FL.
My partners in that early venture were my cousin and a long loyal friend.
Our plans were to design, manufacture and market bio-friendly consumer products.
Nothing much ever came of that though.
In 1988 I quite unexpectedly found myself exiled from the family homestead in
St. Petersburg (see: Living in Exile ) to Cambridge Ohio.
I took the liberty of considering the name still available for my personal use.
.
The movement to educate the people
has no formal name or hierarchy. There doesn't seem to be an official
list of it's members/volunteers.
What I do here
- opinions I express, biases I show,
analysis or evaluation I
make - all of these are entirely my own.
I am an advocate.
